My original Apple cord broke at the USB-C connector after several years of use. I couldn’t justify the high cost of Apple’s replacement cable, which was always too short and not very durable. So, I explored other options and found this one at a great price. I’ve had excellent experiences with Amazon Basics in the past.
When it arrived, I was pleased to find that it was longer than the original Apple cable and much more durable. The connector housings are sturdier and can withstand more strain, and the cable itself is thicker. While the internal conductors may have a different AWG to accommodate the longer length, I didn’t verify that.
Overall, I’m very happy with this cable, and charging my devices is much more convenient now with the extra length.

I’ve learned from past experiences that not all cables are created equal. Some third-party USB-C to Lightning cables fail to transfer data quickly or provide the full charging voltage, but this one does. It keeps my Magic Trackpad II and Magic Keyboard charged perfectly.
I use it with my Mac M2 Studio Ultra and my iPod 7 Touch. I’ve encountered cables that wouldn’t allow the iPod to sync, even though the Studio recognized it once connected—those were promptly returned.
This Cable Matters cable is noticeably thicker than the Apple version, making it bulkier, but I don’t mind. It feels sturdier due to the extra insulation. While I haven’t had it long enough to guarantee it, it appears that the ends are less likely to fray at the connectors compared to the Apple cable.
Additionally, it comes in various lengths; I chose the 6’6″ / 2M option. Highly recommended!

Update: After about 5 months, the cable is completely ruined. It started disconnecting and eventually stopped working altogether. I just purchased a new one and used electrical tape to wrap around the base to extend its lifespan this time. While you can buy those charger neck protectors, electrical tape is versatile and only costs about $3 for a lot. Different strokes for different folks!
